Pedro Parra y Familia NEWK Cinsault 2021

Coming from sandy quartz and granite-based terroirs, the 2021 Cinsault Newk needs a bit of air on opening to blow off its initial more reductive aromas. Named after saxophonist Sonny "Newk" Rollins, it opens to notes of mixed berries, sweet tea leaf, fresh purple flowers, and river rock. Medium-bodied, it's silky on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins and a savory finish that has subtle but undeniable persistence and length. This haunting wine is going to show its best over the next 8-10 years.
