Chateau Rouget Pomerol 2015
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pomerol|
Dense ruby with purple reflections in appearance. Powerful and elegant with the notes of blackcurrant, plums and dark chocolate. Voluptuous and flavorful on the ripe red fruits, spices and subtle toasted and menthol aromas. Beautiful freshness on the finish featuring racy tannins and silky texture.
The 2015 Rouget is outstanding. Plump, juicy and forward, the 2015 possesses terrific depth to match its flamboyant personality. Black cherry, plum, mocha, dark spice and licorice abound in this forward Pomerol. The style is unquestionably ripe and modern, but very nicely judged. Consulting winemaker Michel Rolland has done a fine job here.
Another gem from the Michel Rolland team is the 2015 Rouget. Offering a hedonistic, fruit-loaded, full-bodied style as well as lots of darker fruits, espresso roast, chocolate and damp earth, it's a textbook Pomerol that's going to benefit from a year or three of bottle age and keep for a decade.
