Lucien et Andre Brunel Châteauneuf du Pape Les Cailloux 2015
|Region||France, Rhone, Chateauneuf-du-Pape|
|Brand||Lucien et Andre Brunel|
The 2015 vintage, with exceptional climatic conditions, allowed the grenache to fully express itself. Dominant aromas of red fruits enhanced by a woody touch from the barrel-contained Syrah grapes. A great taste of red fruits, leather and undergrowth. The tannins are harmonious and elegant. Long finish in the mouth allowing for even more complex aromas of undergrowth, leather ... the wine allies strength and elegance, complexity of secondary aromas while keeping a fruity freshness.
Pair with red meat and game.
Blend: 70% Grenache, 17% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah and 3% Cinsault.
(raised in a combination of concrete tanks for the Grenache, which is made with 30 percent whole clusters, and small new and used barriques for the Mourvèdre and Syrah, which are totally destemmed) Brilliant ruby. Spice- and smoke-accented aromas of cherry, dark berries and lavender pastille are complicated by a pungent suggestion of white pepper. Seamless and smooth on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that deepen and become sweeter with air. A hint of candied licorice builds slowly on the gently tannic, clinging finish, which leaves a suave floral note behind.
An elegant version, with rooibos tea, sandalwood, blood orange and red currant notes streaming through in unison, backed by subtle shiso leaf and mineral details on the finish. A graceful, silky style, showing cut and persistence. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Drink now through 2030.
