Limpid ruby. High-pitched, mineral-accented red berry, cherry and potpourri scents are complemented by succulent spice and herb flourishes. Silky and open-knit on entry, offering juicy raspberry, cherry preserve and lavender pastille flavors that tighten up slowly and deepen with air. Shows fine clarity and floral lift on the impressively long finish, which is given shape by silky, even tannins. The unadorned, classically built and elegant wine from this estate is always among the best values in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

I've always loved the wines of this incredibly old-school domaine, and their 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape looks to be another solid effort. Loads of garrigue, pepper, incense, saddle leather, and sweet red and black fruits all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, supple, seamless red that has ripe tannins, good mid-palate depth, and just loads of upfront charm. It's not going to be the longest-lived, but it's beautifully done and is going to offers tons of pleasure over the coming 10-12 years.
